Investigator Tools
SharePhe
SharePhe, a tool for sharing and reuse of computable phenotype definitions, is available as a plug-in for the Informatics for Integrating Biology and the Bedside (i2b2) platform and a web app. Sharephe (pronounced Sheriff) provides a cloud-based searchable repository of computable phenotypes, concept sets, and cohorts. The tools support importing and exporting phenotypes from the cloud-based repository, and allow the user to link supporting metadata. This tool can enable clinical research networks to realize large scale sharing and reuse of human-readable and computer-executable phenotype definitions, thereby advancing data-driven precision medicine research. Currently phenotypes are represented as i2b2 queries but future development will support translation into other common data models.

ENACT Report Formatters
ENACT Report formatters utilize the ENACT ontology and SHRINE query output to create reports for prep to research and research. An investigator can create NIH Enrollment Forms, Table Ones and Two by Two tables at their desktop using csvs exported from the SHRINE Cohort Explorer.Informatics Tools
Data Quality Explorer
The Data Quality Explorer (DQE) is a self-service, interactive visualization web tool designed to empower sites to compare their data against current network statistics. The tool is available to all sites, even those not yet contributing patient count data to the ENACT network. A site simply has to run the patient counting tool (totalnum scripts) to use the DQE.
The tool helps sites detect and identify potential data quality issues such as unexplained outliers or missing data. Data quality can be investigated as ontology trees, summarized trees (sumtree), or in tabular form. Ontology trees are presented visually where each node count is compared with the network statistics. Outliers are highlighted with color. Missing data is highlighted with size. To help users grapple with large ontologies, the trees are additionally summarized to enable users to focus specifically on the outliers. Using this visualization technique, we can easily spot outliers due to regional differences. For those who prefer tabular data, data can be interrogated using a filter table.

ONTOLOGY
Browse the ENACT Ontologies
This public instance of i2b2 allows users to peruse the ENACT ontologies including classic i2b2 and the ENACT OMOP ontology. Test ontologies and a test version of the SharePhe plugin are accessible in this instance.Ontology Store
The Ontology Store plugin is a tool developed to allow the i2b2 community to catalog and share i2b2 formatted ontologies. The tool enables i2b2 ontologies to be downloaded and installed into i2b2 with a few simple clicks. Learn more about the OntologyStore.COHORT QUERY TOOLS
Learn more about the latest version of ENACT Cohort Query Tools:SHRINE
The Shared Health Research Information Network (SHRINE) helps researchers overcome one of the greatest problems in population-based research: compiling large groups of well-characterized patients.
Investigators with access to a SHRINE-powered network may use the SHRINE web-based query tool to determine the aggregate total number of patients at participating hospitals who meet a given set of inclusion and exclusion criteria. Because counts are aggregate, patient privacy is protected.
These data will be most useful for investigators interested in:
- Generating new research hypotheses
- Planning research requiring large sample sizes not easily available at any single institution
- Preparing grant applications that would benefit from pre-identification and/or characterization of a potential research cohort
- Identifying potential cohorts for clinical trials
- Conducting research in the areas of population health and health services
